Fostering communication with your spirit guides can be easier than you realize. Every person has this ability. You may even be doing it now subconsciously! Just as everyone is more skilled in a particular learning style (visual, repetition, instinct, etc.), there are multiple ways to access spiritual knowledge.
To understand this better we turn to the six clairs (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, clairgustance and clairscent) each derived from the French word for clear and connected to our psychic senses. Only one, claircognizance, is not related to a physical sense. But like radio frequency, spiritual data is being broadcasted to us by the universe, and through the clairs we can tune into these important messages. Much like our talents in our daily life some abilities are more honed than others due to preference or practice. Thus, even dominant psychic gifts can change over time, and with patience dormant clairs can be strengthened.
Clairvoyance (clear seeing)
This is best known skill. In this method a person can physically or mentally see their spirit guide. Another form of subjective communication is seeing an image or vision materialize in one’s mind, this includes seeing flecks of light, orbs, wisps or symbols. A person with connections to the visual arts may be particular gifted in clairvoyance.
Clairaudience (clear hearing)
In this method, spirit guides will make auditory contact via extrasensory sounds including music, voices, words, and tones. Again, this can occur either externally or via your mind’s “inner ear.” This clair is most prominent for musicians, singers, writers or orators.
Clairsentience (clear feeling)
This clair is extremely common for empaths, or people more in tune with being’s feelings, emotions or attitudes. Typically, clairsentients will enter a space and immediate feel the overall mood, or any lingering emotions. They also will have “sympathy pains” if they encounter someone with is ill or in pain. Use these messages as ways to communicate with your spirit guides to help ease the situation. Caretakers like doctors, therapists, counselors, mentors, nurses, and even teachers, may be more likely to select this clairs to speak their guides.
Clairgustance (clear tasting)
This is a rare and less understood clair. If you ever have had a dream which you consumed something and recalled the taste, then you have experienced clairgustance. Chefs, bakers and foodies may have spirit guides that assist them with daily work, by sending messages of tastes to improve a menu, culinary skills, or eating experience.
Clairscent (clear smelling)
Another uncommon clair, this method can convey powerful messages. Can you recall a time you smelled flowers, cookies, perfume, or smoke in an otherwise empty space? This is key sign spirit guides are reaching out to you by send a message via your “third nose.” This can be a heighten skills for florists, tasters, or scent manufacturers.
Claircognizance (clear knowing)
Although, not connected to a physical sense, claircognizance is a commonly occurring dominant clair. Consider how you might just know a person’s name, or the right shop to buy your couch. This may signal this your spirit guides best way of reaching you. Often people report difficulty trusting claircognizant messages since nothing occurs prior receiving the information and nothing physical is typically present. However, this is a well-honed clair for philosophers, professors, doctors, scientist, spiritual leaders and energy workers.
The best way to identify your dominant clair is by meditation. During your next session, pay attention to both objective and subjective sensations that you are receiving. Simply note, and not fixate on the messages. Keep a journal and record your experience to review at later dates. If these sensations recur multiple times, then you can begin to ascertain your dominant clair.
